Swim Team - WEEKS 8 & 9

Hello Piranhas!

We are coming up on the busiest week of the season. As always, I will do my best to be concise but I apologize for the length of this email...

Below you will find:

  • Announcements & ACTION ITEMS,
  • the Scottish Hills Meet Recap,
  • Next week's Meet Information (Home vs. Sunset Ridge)
  • Cary City Meet Information,
  • the next two weeks' Calendar.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & IMPORTANT ACTION ITEMS

VOLUNTEERING is crucial to running our meets. Please, make sure to be in attendance for volunteer positions you have signed up for -- we have been risking our ability to complete a meet due to lack of volunteers. PLEASE, lend a hand, we really need your help.

  • SUNSET RIDGE MEET ATTENDANCE DECLARATION & event selections for next meet DUE MONDAY, July 10;
  • I still have some T-Shirts ($15) & Silicone Caps ($21.50) available for purchase. I will have them with me during practices or can arrange via email with you to set aside/drop off what you need. I have a good amount of adult shirt sizes and very limited youth sizes left. Please, let me know if you would like to purchase anything;
  • T-Shirts purchased at registration are still waiting for some families to pick up at the front desk of the pool;

Scottish Hills Meet Recap

Piranhas lost in an incredibly close meet! We typically have about 175 swimmers entered in each meet. On Tuesday night we had a mighty 98. Those swimmers raced hard and did a fantastic job. With a final score of 247 - 263, ultimately we just didn't have enough depth in our meet sheet to get the win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • NEW POOL RECORDS SET -
    • Theo Whitson set a Scottish Hills pool record in 15 yd Backstroke (12.58)
    • the 13-14 boys relay team of Charlie Camplin, David Davis, Joe Froelich, and Ethan Wegner set the pool record in both the 200 yd Medley Relay (1:50.16) and the 200 yd Freestyle Relay (1:39.56)
  • AUDREY HARBINSON - who dropped over 13 seconds in her 25 yard backstroke!
  • the 11-12 BOYS - as an age group only gave up 1 point the entire meet!
  • KATE GALLOWAY - who dropped times in all 3 of her events!

Make sure to indicate your SUNSET RIDGE MEET ATTENDANCE DECLARATION-

This is our last HOME meet. I have now opened the system to allow your swimmer to select the events they would like to swim. They may choose a MAXIMUM of 3 individual events. If you select 4, I will make the choice of which event to remove. I may also move your swimmer based on need for Main Events.

THEME: Hawaiian Luau

It is very important that you indicate accurate attendance plans. The efficiency of the meet and accuracy of the timing is significantly effected by no shows or by swimmers attending that we are not expecting to.
