Swim Team - WEEKS 6 & 7
Hello Piranhas! This weather has not been so friendly to us... but we did get through a lot of the Tuesday swim meet! Below you will find: Announcements, Meet Recap, Cary City Meet Information, the next week Calendar.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The weather looks like it will continue to be stormy through early next week. Keep an eye on the weather when making your practice decision (it's cold for the littles when it's overcast & raining) and check your email for any weather closures.
- I have some T-Shirts ($15) & Silicone Caps ($21.50) available for purchase. I will have them with me during practices or can arrange via email with you to set aside/drop off what you need. I have a good amount of adult shirt sizes and very limited youth sizes left. Please, let me know if you would like to purchase anything;
- T-Shirts purchased at registration are still waiting for some families to pick up at the front desk of the pool;
- VOLUNTEERING is crucial to running our meets. Please, make sure to be in attendance for volunteer positions you have signed up for (rain or shine)
Make sure to Indicate Availability for Apex Meet (6/27) - This is a HOME meet! I have now opened the system to allow your swimmer to select the events they would like to swim. They may choose a MAXIMUM of 3 individual events. If you select 4, I will make the choice of which event to remove. I may also move your swimmer based on need for Main Events.
It is very important that you indicate accurate attendance plans. The efficiency of the meet and accuracy of the timing is significantly effected by no shows or by swimmers attending that we are not expecting to.
University Club Meet Recap
THANK YOU ALL for dancing through the rain to get through as much of this meet as possible. I share in everyone's disappointment that we were not able to get though every planned race. Many swimmers jumped into Main Events for the first time ever. Piranhas danced and cheered through the rain and we made the best of a non-ideal night!
We had 51 Individual BEST TIMES from the 156 individual swims that happened (nearly 33% of our swims were lifetime bests)!
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- TYLOR BURNS - she dropped over 3 seconds in her 25 breaststroke!
- JASON IRENE - dropped time in his first main heat as an 11-12 and competed on his first A Relay with that age group!
- VANNA HANOIAN & ALI SCIBIENSKI - who tied as our girls' high point scorers of the meet winning both of the two main events they each swam!
- MARCUS HULBIG - who not only swam in three events, but also TIMED for the second half of the meet when we were short volunteers! Thank you, Marcus!
